Dead River Falls, Marquette Michigan
The Falls are a stiff hike about 3/4 of a mile from the parking area with no motorized traffic allowed but you’ll probably have the Falls all to yourself, with few willing to make the hike. https://www.waterfallsofthekeweenaw.com/dead-river/dead-river-falls/
Black River Falls, Ely twp. Michigan
If you’re looking for a much easier hike, Black River Falls in Ely township offers a similar experience with beautiful northern river falls scenery. (A couple of the bridges at the time of this writing seem to need some repairs).
Fumee Falls, Breitung twp. Michigan
Fumee Falls is smaller and slightly more intimate than some of our other picks but just as enjoyable. The hike is pretty easy to get to the falls and the facilities surrounding it are in good order.
Rock River Falls, Onota twp. Michigan
Rock River Falls is another challenging hike on a very unimproved road to get to a very nice set of falls in a scenic forest setting. This falls is best approached when it hasn’t recently rained as it can make the road pretty sketchy.
Canyon Falls, L’Anse twp. Michigan
Rugged but beautiful describes Canyon Falls. A beautiful set of Falls over rough rocky wilderness terrain. The parking lot is a short hike to the falls and you can wade in the river if conditions allow.
Ocqueoc Falls, Ocqueoc Michigan
Ocqueoc Falls is the largest falls in the lower peninsula and well worth the trip. The only issue with Ocqueoc Falls is its popularity. We suggest cooler weather or week days to avoid crowds.
