LaSalle Club Museum – Gilmore, Hickory Corners Michigan
This is much more than just a large building with a bunch of classic cars in it. The  Cadillac LaSalle Club Museum is actually part of a complex of buildings that is located at the Gilmore Museum that specialize in specific brands in automotive history. There’s the Cadillac/LaSalle building, the Pierce-Arrow building, a 50’s & 60’s Gallery, Lincoln Motor Car Museum, and several others that are well worth exploring

The Automotive Hall of Fame, Dearborn Michigan
Celebrating the pioneers of automotive innovation, the Hall of Fame also inducts people who brought about those innovations such as Albert Khan who pioneered modern reinforced concrete automotive plants instead  of the timber framing of the time.

The Wills St. Clair Museum, Marysville Michigan
This is a fascinating little Museum about one of the more obscure car companies ever to exist the Wills St Clair. Designed by Childe Harold Wills, the St Clair went into production in 1921 but by 1926 had closed its doors. Wills had several innovations such as vanadium steel that Wills had invented while employed at Ford Motor Co. and used in Ford cars to this day.

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, Dearborn Michigan
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is actually owned by the Model T Automotive Heritage Circle Complex who saved the plant from being demolished. The plant was one of the Henry Ford’s original factories, and now exists to show early Ford Cars and History. The Piquette Plant is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Pontiac Transportation Museum, Pontiac Michigan
The newly minted Pontiac Museum just opened early 2024 and highlights early Pontiac history and cars as well as the cities automotive roots in coach building and the Oakland car company.

Roush Automotive Collection, Livonia Michigan
The Roush collection has over 110 well preserved vehicles on display but is only open to the public from May through August, otherwise you have to call for a reservation. Roush has exhibits of exotic, rare, and racing cars as well as memorabilia and products from Roush Industries.

Stahls Auto Museum, Chesterfield MI
Stahls Museum is packed full with very early automotive makes and pioneers showing off unique engineering and ideas, some that caught on and some that didn’t, but that makes it even more interesting. A lot of great old memorabilia will take you back to your childhood. Also a nice bonus Stahls has their own YouTube Channel called Inside Stahls featuring some of their best vehicles.

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, Dearborn Michigan
The Henry Ford, as it’s often referred as is a museum of Early Americana based around early automobile and transportation culture. Rich examples of automobile and automobile related paraphernalia would literally take you a couple of days to see everything they have and that doesn’t include the River Rouge Plant, or Greenfield Village which are nearby.

R.E.Olds transportation Museum, Lansing Michigan
Ransom Eli olds was a Ohio born inventor and automotive pioneer who worked in his father’s pattern shop and later built and sold the first economical mass produced car, the Oldsmobile Curved Dash. Fascinating stories and automotive history.
